Ram Commercial Trucks Introduce 2 New Programs to Help Dealers and Buyers

Ram Commercial is introducing a program to aid both dealers and drivers.  The two new programs will help commercial drivers view, certify, and install a wide range of truck-mounted products.  The two program names are Ram Augmented Reality Upfit Configurator and Q Pro.  Both of these programs look to give Ram Commercial Trucks an edge in a crowded and growing market.

The Ram Augmented Reality Upfit Configurator is a new program that as introduced at the end of 2016.  It is a computer-generated visual program that lets dealers and buyers have a virtual look around a truck and view their upgrades.  The program originally was only offered for the ProMaster but it has now been expanded to cover the ProMaster City and the Ram Chassis Cab lineup.

The Q Pro program is a new qualification process for upfitters to certify their product with Ram Engineering.  It provides resources to survey, make recommendations and certify upfitter products.  Once an upfitter gets certified, the Ram Q Pro will then help to market their products to customers all while they know they’re getting products that meet Ram Commercial’s rigorous standards.

Ram Truck is spending Thanksgiving by celebrating and giving thanks for the hard work by families and workers across America in a new special tribute video.

The new video is called “Praise” and is doing just that.  The praise is aimed at America’s everyday heroes of families and workers.  The 90-second video features a wide amount of jobs and is an empowering look at the workers who keep the country moving.  It’s certainly plays up to Ram being a truck for the working-class hero.

“Appropriately airing on Thanksgiving Day when families across the country take time to reflect and give thanks, ‘Praise’ is the Ram brand’s tribute to hard-working Americans and the story of people who are the backbone of our country,” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer for FCA in a statement.  “Just as the brand paid homage to American farm families a few years back during a Super Bowl telecast, we always look for opportunities to build unique, impactful creative around a defining cultural moment that allows us to reach large audiences in a very effective way.  ‘Praise adheres to our marketing mantra of thinking boldly and making a difference in both the message and the we deliver it.”

The video will be making the rounds on all the usual social media platforms and will be using the hashtag #RamGivesThanks.  Country music singers that work with Ram, like Easton Corbin, will also be sharing stories of what they are thankful for using the hashtag.  Be sure to chime in with what you’re thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Mopar ’16 Ram Rebel is voted “Best Off-road Vehicle” by RMAP

mp016_009rm7r101eul1qajr6d8097395cmc__mid

The Mopar ’16 Ram Rebel was named the “Best Off-road Vehicle” by the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press at the 10th Annual Mountain Driving Experience.

Every year, more than 30 journalists head to the Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado to spend two days driving and grading various trucks on their capabilities. At the end of this, the journalist then compare notes and votes to showcase which vehicles they believed shone more brightly than the rest.  In this year, the 10th Annual Rocky Mountain Driving Experience, the Mopar 2016 Ram Rebel was the shining star of the truck category.

“For the second consecutive year, RMAP journalists have selected the Ram Rebel because of its combination of off-road capability, power and comfort,” said David Muramoto, President of RMAP in a statement.  “That’s what made it a winner.”

The 2016 Ram Rebel is based on the Ram 1500 4×4 Rebel Crew Cab and is the first time Mopar has modified a vehicle in the truck segment.  It features numerous upgrades, including a skid plate to guard the power steering box and 17-inch satin black wheels.  It’s an eye-catching truck that does not skimp out on capability, as the journalist who could spend time with it found out.  It’s the best of both worlds; visually appealing and keeps the power of a truck.

How Does The 2016 Ram 1500 Compare to the Competition?

ram1500-exterior-front-end-bumper

How does the 2016 Ram 1500 stack up against the competition?  That’s a question that Slashgear wanted answered.  They compared the popular up-and-coming Ram truck to its 3 closest competitors to see where it was better and where it could use improvement.

The Ford F-150 has been the king of the truck segment for a long time now, but the Ram 1500 is starting to make gains as Ram continues to make quality trucks as well as push the knowledge of their capability out into the truck buying world.  A few years ago, no one would’ve thought that Ram would mount the kind of resurgence it has had.  So how does it compare to the competition?

First up is the previously state king; the Ford F-150.  This is the one to be better than to hope to claim the segment.  What the F-150 does better is that it has better towing.  It also offers more gas engine options and has a cheaper base model.  On the flip side, the 1500 has the EcoDiesel engine option, which rivals Ford’s EcoBoost engine in terms of fuel economy.  Ram also features the Uconnect system that is better than the Ford’s SYNC touchscreen system.  The final thing that the 1500 has that the F-150 does not is an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Next up is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado.  The place where the Silverado offers competition to the 1500 is again in engine options.  It has more V8 engines.  That being said, the 1500 beats it in terms of value.  Six-speed automatic transmission is in the base 1500 with the eight-speed available as an option and standard on most of the models.  You don’t get that without paying a lot more on the Silverado.

Lastly is the 2016 GMC Sierra.  The Sierra is comparable to the 1500 in many of the same ways that the Silverado is.  The Sierra has more power in the engine options and driver safety features such as Driver Alert Seats.  The 1500 wins again with its transmission offerings.  The 1500 also has a better, and more comfortable, interior than the Sierra.

Can a 2016 Ram 3500 HD Tow a Navy Fighter Plane?

Ram 3500 Towing

‘The Fast Lane Trucks’

What is the most you’ve towed?  The folks at ‘The Fast Lane Truck’ now get bragging rights for towing a EA-6B Prowler Jet with their 2016 Ram 3500.

In a new video uploaded to their YouTube page, the stars pay a visit to the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum.  They decided to lend a hand in moving a Prowler Jet from its place on the museum floor and rather than simply use the tower at the site, they wanted to test out the towing on their truck, a 2016 Ram 3500 to be exact.

It is a sight to behold.  Not only will you get an informational look at the Prowler and what its history of service, but then you’ll get to be amazed as it gets pushed and pulled by a heavy duty Ram truck.  It is the best kind of history lesson!  Check out the video and remember this for the next time you need to purchase a truck to tow your private air force.

Check Out a Ram Hellcat Pickup Truck

It seems that the Dodge Hellcats set a trend that nobody could really anticipate.  Everyone is trying to shove that Hellcat engine into whatever car they can.  Even Jeep is doing that with an upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee.  What else could possibly hold that monstrous engine?  Turns out that it may just be a Ram pickup truck.

Maxim is reporting that prototypes of Ram trucks hosting the Hellcat engine were spotted at the Chrysler proving grounds.  Ram and Chrysler haven’t made any official news that a Ram truck would be having a Hellcat engine, but they said the same thing about the Grand Cherokee until that became a thing.  It could be that the engineers at Chrysler are experimenting with all the popular models of their line-up to see if the Hellcat is viable.

Maxim also covered the fact that one customer wasn’t willing to wait for a Hellcat truck.  Road and Track found a man in Ontario, Canada who really wanted that Hellcat Ram Truck and was able to find someone crazy enough to build it.  Turns out that Midland Chrysler was up to the task.  Check out their article to see what a Hellcat Ram Truck could look like.

Wonder what the next Hellcat vehicle will be.

Is the Ram Dakota Making a Come Back?

2006-Dodge-Dakota-Truck-Image-003

Mike Manley, the head of Ram Trucks, had an interview with USA Today where he dropped a bit of a bombshell for truck lovers.  Here is the line that has many talking.

“You have the opportunity with a new frame for the next-generation Ram.  You have the opportunity to take a large SUV off of it because we already have a very, very capable frame today that is going to be upgraded.”

Auto Evolution latched onto this portion of the interview as a marker of what is to come from the future of Ram.  The future of the FCA has been an interesting one of late.  There have been some major course corrections due to the recent sales trends of Jeep and Ram.  FCA is putting a bigger focus on their SUV and crossover lines due to the uptick Jeep and Ram have been enjoying.

So is this a sign of what to expect from the 2018 Ram 1500?  The 1500 is due for an update according to the 5-year plan that FCA put out, even though much has changed recently so the plan isn’t being kept to exactly.

In other news from the interview, Manley also brought up bringing back the Dakota.  I could see Ram doing that.  For many of the brands, bringing back older and popular vehicles has gone over well enough.  The Chrysler Pacifica is popular so far and Jeep is bringing back the Wagoneer.  The Dakota could be the nostalgic strength for a new Ram Truck that capitalizes on the Ram sales.
