Check Out This Video Showcasing the Features of the Uconnect System in the 2019 Ram 1500!

The Uconnect system that is onboard FCA vehicles is one of the best and most popular digital vehicle systems on the market.  It is easy to use and features an easy to use UI.  But, it is a system that is mainly associated with sedans, suvs, minivans; not trucks.  The Ram 1500, however, makes great use of its 12-inch Uconnect system as a new video that Ram Trucks released for Truck Thursday proves.

The video breaks down the use of the Uconnect system for the average driver.  With highlighting features such as GPS for the longer hauls of equipment or for a roadtrip for the upcoming summer, the Uconnect system will get you where you need to go.  It can help you find a place to eat or gas up without having to be stressed out with searching on route.

Here’s the video to check out:

The 2019 Ram 1500 is the Best Family Truck!

The 2019 Ram 1500 is the Best Family Car!

This honor comes from the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association that gave the overall Best Family Car honor to the 2019 1500 as well as Best Family Truck.

“The GAAMA Family Car Challenge is unique in that we host the only vehicle competition specific to the needs and desires of today’s families,” said Daryl Killian, GAAMA president and host of The AutoNsider on News & Talk 1380 WAOK, an Entercom Radio Station based in Atlanta. “For the third year in a row, our members were impressed with Ram 1500’s combination of technology, functionality, drivability and family-friendly features. It’s only fitting that the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 won our top overall award given how the 2019 Ram 1500 is loaded with well-thought-out features that are important to families: segment-leading fuel efficiency, impressive ride quality, clever storage solutions and a comprehensive infotainment system. The repeat wins for the Chrysler Pacifica are also impressive. Today’s busy families need a vehicle that can help make their lives easier, and the Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid exceed that promise.”

The members of the GAAMA evaluated all different vehicles to figure out which cars would be awarded by them.  Other vehicles in the FCA family also were recognized, such as the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica.  The big winner is definitely the 2019 Ram 1500.

New 2019 Ram 1500 Easter Eggs Spotted

The new 2019 Ram 1500 has a lot of new features that are meant to help propel the truck to the head of the segment.  This includes all kinds of new tech including a new hybrid system and additional Uconnect systems.  What is not included in the long list of features being added is all the easter eggs that Ram included in the truck.  Jalopnik managed to break down all the decorative easter eggs they found in the 2019 Ram 1500.

The first is on the center console floor.  On the floor of the 2019 1500 is a parade of trucks engraved in the plastic.  It’s not just any sequence of trucks however, it seems to be a call to the march of progress, but instead of apes evolving into humans, it is the truck evolving into the modern era.  This etching rests on top of a container for more storage.

The next easter egg is on the center console lid which includes geometry tools.  This includes a protractor and conversion table in case you need to do some quick math in your truck without any access to any other tools.  There is even a ruler embedded on the plastic on the floor storage.

The last is a nod to the classic Ramcharger.  On the center console, underneath the CD player, there is a wireless phone charger marked “Ramcharger.”

Check Out a Ram Hellcat Pickup Truck

It seems that the Dodge Hellcats set a trend that nobody could really anticipate.  Everyone is trying to shove that Hellcat engine into whatever car they can.  Even Jeep is doing that with an upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee.  What else could possibly hold that monstrous engine?  Turns out that it may just be a Ram pickup truck.

Maxim is reporting that prototypes of Ram trucks hosting the Hellcat engine were spotted at the Chrysler proving grounds.  Ram and Chrysler haven’t made any official news that a Ram truck would be having a Hellcat engine, but they said the same thing about the Grand Cherokee until that became a thing.  It could be that the engineers at Chrysler are experimenting with all the popular models of their line-up to see if the Hellcat is viable.

Maxim also covered the fact that one customer wasn’t willing to wait for a Hellcat truck.  Road and Track found a man in Ontario, Canada who really wanted that Hellcat Ram Truck and was able to find someone crazy enough to build it.  Turns out that Midland Chrysler was up to the task.  Check out their article to see what a Hellcat Ram Truck could look like.

Wonder what the next Hellcat vehicle will be.

Is the Ram Dakota Making a Come Back?

2006-Dodge-Dakota-Truck-Image-003

Mike Manley, the head of Ram Trucks, had an interview with USA Today where he dropped a bit of a bombshell for truck lovers.  Here is the line that has many talking.

“You have the opportunity with a new frame for the next-generation Ram.  You have the opportunity to take a large SUV off of it because we already have a very, very capable frame today that is going to be upgraded.”

Auto Evolution latched onto this portion of the interview as a marker of what is to come from the future of Ram.  The future of the FCA has been an interesting one of late.  There have been some major course corrections due to the recent sales trends of Jeep and Ram.  FCA is putting a bigger focus on their SUV and crossover lines due to the uptick Jeep and Ram have been enjoying.

So is this a sign of what to expect from the 2018 Ram 1500?  The 1500 is due for an update according to the 5-year plan that FCA put out, even though much has changed recently so the plan isn’t being kept to exactly.

In other news from the interview, Manley also brought up bringing back the Dakota.  I could see Ram doing that.  For many of the brands, bringing back older and popular vehicles has gone over well enough.  The Chrysler Pacifica is popular so far and Jeep is bringing back the Wagoneer.  The Dakota could be the nostalgic strength for a new Ram Truck that capitalizes on the Ram sales.

Ram Works Hard to Keep Up With ProMaster Demand

RPM_mg_95258b1pa3bga24rkqsgv82s9lb67u__mid

New Yorkers are loving the Ram ProMaster. It seems that Ram just can’t keep up with the demand!

Ram Commercial Truck brand hosted a special one-day dealer drive-away event for truck dealers in the New York Area. The dealers came in to pick up dozens of the ProMaster to get them back to the dealerships in order to meet the high demand. Ram is having trouble keeping up with what can only be described as unprecedented demand and wanted to make a show of their effort to keep up with giving people what they want.

The ProMaster has been having an amazing sale streak for the past few months. Februray, March, and April set records for Ram’s Commercial Trucks and the brand as a whole has been on the rise for demand and popularity.

It’s hard not to see why. The ProMaster is perfectly suited for a city like New York. Many businesses need to be mobile, but also need something that is comfortable to drive in the crowded streets. The ProMaster offers the best of both worlds. It is easy to see why any small, or large, business operating in New York would want to get their hands on one of these.

New 2016 Ram 1500 Special Edition Announced: The Yellow Rose of Texas Special Edition

2016 Ram 1500 Yellow Rose of Texas

Ram has been the ‘Truck of Texas’ for a while now.  It makes sense that when it comes time to put together a custom truck, that the great state of Texas would be getting its own special edition.

Ram is introducing the Yellow Rose of Texas edition of the 2016 Ram 1500.  It has a Stinger Yellow paint color, not to confuse anyone by NOT having yellow paint to go with its name.  This special edition will be offered on the half-ton 4×2 and 4×4 crew cab versions of the Ram 1500 Lone Star.

The name Yellow Rose of Texas comes from a mid-19th century American folk song.  It was later covered by artist Mitch Miller and was a Billboard Number One hit in 1955.

“Texas is truck country – Ram Truck country – and we’re committed to building products that resonate with our customers,” said Mike Manley, the head of Ram Brand.  “The importance of the Texas truck market cannot be overstated.  That’s why the Ram Truck brand has worked year after year to deliver hard-working trucks that serve the communities across the Lone Star state.”

Texas and Ram trucks have a long history together.  It’s hard not to see Texas as a primary region for trucks.  This is also not the first time that Ram has put together a special edition truck in honor of Texas.  In 2014, they collaborated with the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum with a Ram Texas Ranger concept car.  They’ve also provided much needed aid to residents hit by floods in 2015.

2016 Ram 3500 Rolls off the Line

2016 Ram 3500 - RamDealerNY Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge

The first 2016 Ram 3500 has rolled off the line at the Saltillo Truck assembly Plant.  In true fashion for this monster of a heavy-duty truck, it is a Mega Cab Laramie Longhorn.

The new 2016 Ram 3500 offers the best towing capacity out there.  It has more torque than any other tuck in its class.  It is a truck center around providing those that need something heavy-duty.

The word first came out about the capability of the 2016 Ram 3500 a few weeks ago in June.  The major advertising point was the massive 900 lb-ft of torque.  That is the most torque ever offered in a mass-production vehicle.  The 3500 accomplishes this with the 2016 Cummins 6.7-liter.  That makes it so the 3500 can tow up to 30,000 pounds.

For the hardcore truck fans out there that want something hardcore, you can start getting excited because the 2016 Ram 3500 is getting out there.

New Concept Ram Truck Introduced: The Texas Ranger Concept

Ram Texas Ranger - RamDealerNY

It is a few years too late, but Ram has finally made a Truck for Walker Texas Ranger.

Easy Joke

Easy Joke

Ram has introduced a new concept truck.  It goes by the name of Texas Ranger and it is impossible not to envision a marketing campaign consisting only of Chuck Norris standing in front of it while an eagle flies overhead.  Maybe add in a tumbleweed blowing by to complete the image the name alone brings up.

Long hanging fruit aside, the new Texas Ranger truck was unveiled by Ram President and CEO Bob Hegbloom at the 2015 Dallas Auto Show.  “The Ram team developed this commemorative concept truck in order to further highlight our relationship with the Texas Rangers and the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum.  Although Rangers are well-known horsemen, today Texans drive more pickups than drivers in any other state in the country.”

The exterior design of the Texas Ranger includes a nod to the Texas Ranger star badges.  The unique badging is based on the Mexican five-peso coin which was the basis for the badges used by the first Texas Rangers before it turned into the star-and-wheel design that is known and used today.  This isn’t just featured on the badging, but also on the front driver and passenger-side fenders.  The color scheme used is a bright white and silver metallic, playing to the idea of the white hat and silver badges of the good cowboys.

The interior continues a cowboy aesthetic with leather etching and also having the badging that is a callback to the Ranger badge.  There is even a note on the instrument panel to the founding year of the Texas Rangers in 1823.

Ram trucks have been getting a lot of acclaim from Texas with the 1500 being named the “Truck of Texas.”  It makes sense that the company would be doing what they could to reach out to the cowboy culture associated with Texas and to the iconic Texas Rangers.
