It seems that the Dodge Hellcats set a trend that nobody could really anticipate.  Everyone is trying to shove that Hellcat engine into whatever car they can.  Even Jeep is doing that with an upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee.  What else could possibly hold that monstrous engine?  Turns out that it may just be a Ram pickup truck.

Maxim is reporting that prototypes of Ram trucks hosting the Hellcat engine were spotted at the Chrysler proving grounds.  Ram and Chrysler haven’t made any official news that a Ram truck would be having a Hellcat engine, but they said the same thing about the Grand Cherokee until that became a thing.  It could be that the engineers at Chrysler are experimenting with all the popular models of their line-up to see if the Hellcat is viable.

Maxim also covered the fact that one customer wasn’t willing to wait for a Hellcat truck.  Road and Track found a man in Ontario, Canada who really wanted that Hellcat Ram Truck and was able to find someone crazy enough to build it.  Turns out that Midland Chrysler was up to the task.  Check out their article to see what a Hellcat Ram Truck could look like.

Wonder what the next Hellcat vehicle will be.

Ram ProMaster Wins Edmund’s 2015 Best Retained Value Award

Ram ProMaster Best Retained Value - RamDealerNY - Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge

Edmunds.com has put out their winners of the 2015 Best Retained Value Award and three vehicles from Fiat-Chrysler made the list.  The winners are the 2015 Jeep Wrangler, the 2015 Dodge Challenger, and the 2015 Ram ProMaster.

The list is put together by Edmunds.com by examining new car models that will have the highest projected residual value after five years based on the average True Market Value price when they are sold as new.  From there the models are broken down into body type segments as well as the size of the model and the pricing.

“A vehicle is expected to hold its value well when it is deemed likely to be desireable to a future buyer,” Jessica Caldwell, Director of Industry Analysis for Edmunds.com.  “The Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Challenger, and Ram ProMaster each has a lot of appeal in the marketplace both new and used, so it’s no surprise that they have earned this meaningful accolade.”

The Wrangler won in the Midsize Traditional SUV category, the Challenger in the Entry Sports Car category, and the RamProMaster in the Large Commercial Van category.

Would You Want a Ram 1500 Hellcat?

Ram 1500 Hellcat - RamDealerNY

The Hellcat is the most talked about thing in the muscle car world.  What it has done to the Charger and Challenger is certainly impressive.  If you’re someone who cares about performance, there is a reason why it is the talk of the auto industry.  That brings a question to mind, however, of just what other vehicles should Dodge be looking to include in the Hellcat name?  Could a Ram 1500 get the Hellcat treatment?

It is something that Pickuptrucks.com certainly wants.  The article makes it clear they love the hell out of the Hellcat (pun intended) and would love to see that engine used in a Ram truck.  “…the Challenger Hellcat starts at just less than $65,000 including destination.  Sure, we’d rather pay that kind of money for a Ram 3500 Longhorn with a Cummins engine, but there are a few things that a Hellcat can do that nothing else can.  Which begs the question: Why is this powertrain not in a Ram 1500 SS yet?”

Why indeed, it would be interesting to see what the engineers at Dodge could come up with if they put their Hellcat knowledge and power into a Ram truck.  The article continues that the parts and pieces are already available to the Ram parent company and it would just take some time and engineering, but it certainly sounds plausible.  I guess the real question is if truck drivers would be interested in having a 1500 Hellcat.  Is it something that sounds good on paper or is there a genuine market for it?

What do you think?  Would you be interested in a Ram 1500 Hellcat?

Raminator Monster Truck Sets Speed Record!

Raminator - RamDealerNYC

A Ram truck is not what one would consider fast in comparison to other vehicles in the Chrysler family.  The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is already pushing 707 horsepower.  Yet a Ram truck broke a speed record.  It was the record for Monster Trucks.

The Raminator is a monster truck sponsored by Ram.  It now holds the record for the Fastest Speed for a Monter Truck at Circuit of the Americas located in Austin, Texas.  The speed it hit that got its name in the record books is 99.10 miles per hour!  I can’t even image what that looked like.  I can’t even picture a monster truck hitting that speed.

The previous record was 96.8 mph.  It is a question of just how fast can one get such monstrosities to go.  I feel like that is plenty fast enough, but records are made to be broken.  So maybe in the future, either near or far, we’ll see a monster truck racing down the circuit at over a hundred miles per hour.

Mark Hall was the driver of the Raminator.  He’s been named the Monster Truck Racing Association’s “Driver of the Year” nine times.  He said about the achievement, “Taking on the challenge of breaking a world record has been an experience we will never forget.  With the support of Ram and Mopar, we continue to add to our achievements and are honored to now be a Guinness World Records holder.”
