Ram Trucks Driving the Macys Thanksgiving Parade

macys-thanksgiving-paradeThe Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of the time honored traditions in New York. On Thursday, tons of New Yorkers will pack the streets to watch some amazing floats go by before celebrating Thanksgiving in their own way. This year’s holiday parade has named its official truck: Ram Trucks.

Ram is giving 70 of their commercial fans to the event. The trucks will be working hard to give the people of New York a show. Over 50 million viewers, with 3.5 million lining the street, are expected to be watching. The task of making sure the floats get where they need to go, that goes to Ram trucks.

“Being the official truck of the Parade provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the style, innovation, and towing capability of our 2016 Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks.”

Ram Places 2 Trucks on the Fastest Selling Trucks of September

2015 Ram 2500 - RamDealerNY - 06

September was a good month overall for Fiat-Chrysler.  So many vehicles in various brands did extremely well.  Jeep and Dodge set numerous sales records and helped propel the company to have one great September.  One of the other places where the auto maker did so well was in the truck segment.  Ram trucks continued to have an increase of sales, in so much that two trucks were some of the fastest selling in September.

PickupTrucks.com highlights the ten fastest and slowest pickups sold in the month of September.  The way to find out which truck is the fastest is done by seeing the supply of the truck.  If a pickup has less than a 30-day supply, which means it’s on the fastest list.  Without further suspense, the trucks in question were the 2016 Ram 1500 and Ram 2500.

The 2016 Ram 1500 has been one of the more popular trucks being produced at the moment and has been making a slow and steady march to being one of the dominant forces in its segment.  It has been continuously awarded by numerous critics and drivers are catching on to why.  As for the 2500, it was the only heavy-duty model to break into the top 10.

The ProMaster serious of commercial trucks also had great sales.  Their sales were up 4 percent, making it the brand’s best September since 1996.

Changes Leaked for 2016 Ram 2500 and 3500 HD?

ram2500-exterior-low-angle-front-view-sm

What is the new 2016 Ram 2500 and 3500 HD going to look like.  Will it be getting a visual makeover like so many other vehicles in the Fiat-Chrysler family?  It seems that Allpar, being the Chrysler sleuths they are, may have found out what to expect.

At the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, Ram showed off the 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited.  The truck had the visual stylings notable for Ram with a few exceptions.  The new grille and tailgate caused a bit of a stir with their new look.  Like the upcoming Ram Rebel, the grille is shaped like a X.

This new look is what the 2016 model year will, allegedly, look like for the 2500 and 3500 HD.  Apparently it will even have unique wheels, something the poster didn’t go into much detail about.  The interior will be similar to the 1500 Laramie Limited and will be in all-black and the bumpers are painted with the available choice of chrome as well.

Other notable changes appear to be that the center console layout will be getting a redesign and the Longhorn and Limited will get a new wooden sliding door.  As far as engines, the new models won’t change much.  There will possibly be a new compressed natural gas option, again with not much details there.

Allpar has a knack for getting these things right and we might be finding out more official info here soon as the production is slated to begin on July 20th with deliveries taking only a month or two to get out to dealerships.  We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.

Would You Want a Ram 1500 Hellcat?

Ram 1500 Hellcat - RamDealerNY

The Hellcat is the most talked about thing in the muscle car world.  What it has done to the Charger and Challenger is certainly impressive.  If you’re someone who cares about performance, there is a reason why it is the talk of the auto industry.  That brings a question to mind, however, of just what other vehicles should Dodge be looking to include in the Hellcat name?  Could a Ram 1500 get the Hellcat treatment?

It is something that Pickuptrucks.com certainly wants.  The article makes it clear they love the hell out of the Hellcat (pun intended) and would love to see that engine used in a Ram truck.  “…the Challenger Hellcat starts at just less than $65,000 including destination.  Sure, we’d rather pay that kind of money for a Ram 3500 Longhorn with a Cummins engine, but there are a few things that a Hellcat can do that nothing else can.  Which begs the question: Why is this powertrain not in a Ram 1500 SS yet?”

Why indeed, it would be interesting to see what the engineers at Dodge could come up with if they put their Hellcat knowledge and power into a Ram truck.  The article continues that the parts and pieces are already available to the Ram parent company and it would just take some time and engineering, but it certainly sounds plausible.  I guess the real question is if truck drivers would be interested in having a 1500 Hellcat.  Is it something that sounds good on paper or is there a genuine market for it?

What do you think?  Would you be interested in a Ram 1500 Hellcat?
