Ram Makes Thank-You Video for 1500 Being Named Truck of Texas

When someone does something good for it, it’s only proper and polite to write a thank-you note.

Now, in this case the someone is Texas and the ones writing a thank-you note is Ram.  They owe the state a big ol’ piece of gratitude.  The problem is that it doesn’t seem possible to mail out individual letters to each and every resident of the state, so a more creative means needs to be devised.

Ram put together a montage of striking Texan imagery in a video they put together in appreciation of the honor of being the “Truck of Texas.”  The resounding message carried over in the video is how humbling the truck maker is.  Take a look at the video for yourself:

Not too long ago, the Ram 1500 was named by the Texas Auto Writers Association to be the “2013 Truck of Texas.”  The reasoning behind this choice was thanks to the amazing 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine as well as the Best-in-Class fuel efficiency.

2013 Ram 1500: Built For Stop-and-Start Traffic

ram1500_03Gas prices might be on the decline, but that doesn’t stop anyone from wanting to keep that cost down overall.  Fuel economy is important to drivers.  The recent state of the economy showed just how much the average consumer cared about staying away from the pump as much as possible.  The automakers noticed this.  A major selling point of newer vehicles has been based around fuel efficiency.

That’s here the new 2013 Ram 1500 comes in.  Thanks to the Stop-Start technology it has; drivers will have improved fuel efficiency by 1 mph in city driving.

The Ram 1500 HFE models come with a high-performance starter that includes the Stop-Start system.  That is for both the 3.6L V-6 Pentastar or 5.7L V-8 HEMI engine.

What is the Stop-Start system?  It’s a very smart little do-hickey that stops the engine when the truck is at a complete stop.  A stop is based on the amount of brake pressure the driver puts on the pedal.  That means if you don’t want to stop the engine completely, then you can use soft braking.

This perk is definitely intended for anyone who has to deal with excess traffic.  Anyone who’s driven into New York through any of the tunnels knows how stop and go it can get.  How this system works during these conditions is that the stop-start turns on during the first off.  As long as you stay under 5 mph, the engine continues to run to maintain the heating or AC.  Another awesome aspect is that if the 1500 is stopped for a lengthy period of time and if it detects that the temperature is rising or decreasing, then the engine will restart to turn on the heater or the AC.

No worries about this feature wearing out fast because of what it does.  Yes there’s an additional load of work placed on the starter, alternator, and battery; the components were upgraded to handle it.

Its features like these that are compelling so many to recognize just how amazing the Ram 1500 is.

Ram Sponsors Kentucky Derby for Fourth Consecutive Year

Ram-Truck-Official-Truck-Kentucky-DerbyThis weekend is the Kentucky Derby, and as people are placing their bets and predicting the winner, Ram is getting ready for its fourth consecutive year as the Derby’s official sponsor.

In a post on RamZone, Ram Trucks expressed their gratitude for the honor of sponsoring the Kentucky Derby, stating, “We hope that in time our presence at the Derby will become customary as seersucker suits and the garland of roses.”

For years, Ram’s line-up has catered to a variety of needs from light-duty truck for trailers and ATVs to heavy-duty trucks built for towing horse trailers. They understand the needs of truck drivers and more specifically of horse trainers and owners. Ram’s sponsorship of the Kentucky Derby is the perfect match between product and event, a partnership that will hopefully continue for years to come.

The Kentucky Derby will air live on NBC from 4 PM to 7 PM eastern time.

Ram Jam Auctions Raise $181,731 for Charity!

Road to Ram Jam ImageRam’s all-star country music series, ‘Ram Jam,’ has been a resounding success.  One of the main parts of the event leading up to the concert was called “The Road to Ram Jam.”  All five of the country stars that would be performing as part of the concert were given Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn trucks with which to drive around before auctioning the trucks off with proceeds going towards charity.  The five trucks have been sold off and the final total for the donation has been tallied.  In total, they made $181.731.

The final truck sold belonged to Easton Corbin.  His Ram raised $37,101 for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund.  The fund awards college scholarships to the children of the men and women in the Armed Forces who have lost their lives or limbs in defense of the country.

The other artists included Kellie Pickler, Brantly Gilbert, Billy Currington, and Zac Brown Band.  They were all given the Longhorn trucks, including Corbin, in early January.  Each one was then put up for auction to go towards the charity of the artist’s choice.

Breaking down the individual totals comes to Pickler raising $36,200 for the USO Warrior and Family Care program; Gilbert’s went for $34,552 and his charity was the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.  Billy Currington’s charity was for Team Rubicon and raised $34,578 and Zac Brown Band, the charity being Camp Southern Group, raised $39,300.

The Ram Jam concert was held December 29th in Nashville.  It was by invite only, but you can still see the highlights here. (http://music.yahoo.com/programs/ram-country/. )

WardsAuto has named the 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn on its list of Ward’s 10 Best Interiors for 2013.

In a category that had six Asian automakers win a spot in, the 2013 Ram 1500 stood out as the best for pick-up trucks.  Noting that the new Ram truck beat out its rivals to the market, it’s created a hard chasm for them to cross in order to compete.

“…The Ram 1500 is a spectacular, emotive interior that sets a high standard other auto makers will be hard-pressed to emulate.”

The drivers at Wards had the highest praise for the refined 2013 Ram 1500’s refined interior.  Drew Winter, Editor-in-Chief of WardsAuto World magazine said that the instrument cluster “looks like a fine chronograph” and that the wood trim is “natural-looking and of the highest quality ”  He finished with a marvelous quote, “If Bently made a pickup truck, this is what the cabin would look like.”

The Ram team prides themselves on giving consumers the best bang for their buck.  They loaded the 2013 Ram 1500 with top quality materials and top-of-the-line tech such as the popular Chrysler UConnect system.  That level is why Ram was put in the top 10 when compared to 46 other vehicles.

2014 Ram 1500′s Diesel Engine is Due to Fan Demand

13-ram1500-pv-large-haul-moreThe 2014 Ram 1500 is making a big splash this year by being made available to purchase with a diesel engine.  According to the Stltoday.com, it’s the “first modern-era half-ton to make available diesel power.”

Making the decision to offer this new engine was not a difficult one.  Ram stated that trucks fans have been ‘emphatically asking for it.’

In order to offer a Ram truck with diesel, there will be a new engine, and one not from Cummins.  It will be coming from VM Motori of Cento, which is an Italian company owned by Fiat.  The 3.0-liter V-6 turbo diesel engine will be in the 2014 Ram 1500 and later made available for the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The actual specs of the Ram version have not been made available as of yet, but a comparison is drawn using the Grand Cherokee.  In the Jeep vehicle, the engine is capable of 240 horsepower and 420 lb.ft of torque.  The Ram specs should be revealed sometime this summer.

Motor Trend Names the 2013 Ram 1500 Truck of the Year!

Another truck of the year award handed out, another win for Ram.

The award comes from Motor Trend this time. Their ‘Truck of the Year’ award is considered quite the big deal in the industry. Something that truck makers wear with honor and pride and tend to brag about if you ever ask, or don’t if they’re not so modest.

The 2013 Ram 1500 did not fail to impress the editors. They put it through all the extensive tests, from comfort and amenities, to fuel economy and ride evaluation. All the trucks, including the 1500, are compared in six criteria. Those are design advancement, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value, and performance of intended function.

The decision to crown the 1500 was unanimous, said Ed Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend. “We had a small but solid field of contenders… but in the end, the choice was clear:
Ram 1500 not only withstood our rigorous testing, it impressed at every step along the way.”

There’s a reason why so many magazines and fans are talking about the new 2013 Ram 1500. Contact us at Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge and let us know how badly you want to drive away in one. 2013 Ram 1500: Urban Truck of the Year

We talk about the new 2013 Ram 1500 here a lot.  There’s a good reason for it though and that’s because the auto world won’t stop discussing it.  How am I not supposed to brag when the truck is labeled the 2013 “Urban Truck of the Year”?

Decisive Magazine is the one handing out the award.  It’s all part of their “2013 Urban Vehicles of the Year” list they put out.  The panel that hands out the crown is made up of some of the most respected automotive reviewers in the country.  They spend months evaluating what the automakers have to offer consumers.  Everything is considered, the style of the vehicle, how practical it is, and even its attainability.  Sounds like a terrible job to be stuck driving around tons of cars all day long, but someone has to do it.

Only one can be king, though, and when the dust of battle settled, it was the one and only 2013 Ram 1500 that stood tall against all those that challenged it.  “The Ram 1500 is as quiet as a luxury car and yet, is also extraordinarily capable as a truck,” says Randy Payton, founder of the Annual Urban Wheel Awards.  “Rugged and yet smooth enough for a night on the town, the Ram 1500 really raises the bar on what a pickup truck should be.”

The critics have spoken; the 2013 Ram 1500 is a treasure.  Truck lovers should really look into picking one up.  Stop by Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge and take a look at our full Ram line-up.  Like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter as well, to see more Ram news and offers.

Ram 2500 CNG: Green Alternative for Truck Drivers

The conversation after Hurricane Sandy for many of us in New York seemed to circle around climate change.  Governor Cuomo said as much during the numerous press conferences he held following the disaster.  Whenever global warming is talked about, it’s no doubt that green energy is just around the corner.  No matter your position on what happenings of the environment of late, it’s hard to deny that car makers shouldn’t be doing all they can to help with keeping emissions from their vehicles down.

Ram is answering the call that many seem to be putting out for engines running on alternative fuel technology.  The Ram 2500 will now be the first in the truck line-up that Ram has planned to have CNG (compressed natural gas).   It is the only OEM-built, CNG-powered truck that is made and sold in the US.

The Ram 2500 CNG is a bi-fuel vehicle.  That means it uses compressed natural gas as the primary source of fuel and switches over to gas only after the CNG has been depleted.  CNG is identical in mileage to that of vehicles on unleaded regular gas.  The bright spot to that is that the cost is 30 percent lower than the average price of a gallon of gas.

Breaking it down even further in comparison, CNG costs around $1.25 per GGE (gasoline gallon equivalent).  On CNG, the Ram gets 301 miles on the highway with the range getting boosted to 966 miles with the backup gas supply.  CO2 emissions are reduced by 20 percent and tailpipe emissions see a drop of more than 50 percent.
