New Ram 1500 Rebel Black Special Edition!

The 2017 North American International Auto Show has given us a new special edition Ram Truck; the Ram 1500 Rebel Black.

The Ram Rebel Black special edition is a new package that builds on the truck brand’s fastest-selling off-road truck and giving it some impressive dark features as part of its design.  In keeping with the name, the Rebel Black is all about a black color design.  In the interior, the Rebel Black will have black anodized bezels on the doors, instrument panel, center console, and gauge cluster trim rings.  The heated seats will have All-black embroidery that is highlighted by a Light Slate Grey accent stitching.  This same accent color also traces the instrument panel, center console lid, doors, and seat. 

The Ram 1500 Rebel Black is available in crew cab with the choice of either the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine or the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine.

“Adding the Rebel Black package to an already aggressive off-road truck will continue feeding the momentum Rebel is creating for the Ram Truck brand,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand in a statement.  “The Ram Rebel is unique in the full-size truck segment with 33-inch off-road tires, air suspension and custom interior details.”

2016 Ram 1500 Yellow Rose of Texas

Ram has been the ‘Truck of Texas’ for a while now.  It makes sense that when it comes time to put together a custom truck, that the great state of Texas would be getting its own special edition.

Ram is introducing the Yellow Rose of Texas edition of the 2016 Ram 1500.  It has a Stinger Yellow paint color, not to confuse anyone by NOT having yellow paint to go with its name.  This special edition will be offered on the half-ton 4×2 and 4×4 crew cab versions of the Ram 1500 Lone Star.

The name Yellow Rose of Texas comes from a mid-19th century American folk song.  It was later covered by artist Mitch Miller and was a Billboard Number One hit in 1955.

“Texas is truck country – Ram Truck country – and we’re committed to building products that resonate with our customers,” said Mike Manley, the head of Ram Brand.  “The importance of the Texas truck market cannot be overstated.  That’s why the Ram Truck brand has worked year after year to deliver hard-working trucks that serve the communities across the Lone Star state.”

Texas and Ram trucks have a long history together.  It’s hard not to see Texas as a primary region for trucks.  This is also not the first time that Ram has put together a special edition truck in honor of Texas.  In 2014, they collaborated with the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum with a Ram Texas Ranger concept car.  They’ve also provided much needed aid to residents hit by floods in 2015.

Ram and Man of Steel Team-Up to Make a Superman-Worthy Truck

Opening this weekend is the hotly anticipated summer blockbuster Man of Steel.  Expectations for Superman’s rebirth in cinema are running high and the fans are anxiously drooling for the moment to see the spectacle.  Ram trucks have stepped up for cross-promotions with the movie and have delivered unto the people of Earth a vehicle that looks like a gift from the stars.

Seriously, this is one awesome looking truck.  It looks ripped right from the pages of a comic book.  I half expect for Clark Kent to shout “To the Super-mobile!”

Old school Superman fans may lament the duller gray that’s used instead of a brighter blue, but I think the Dark Ceramic Gray looks pretty powerful.  That and I love the grill with the Superman “S” front and center and the mix of red.

Anyone that goes driving in this power wagon will definitely not be kneeling before anyone anytime soon.

New Sports Special Editions Being Considered for the Ram 1500

When something succeeds, it only makes sense to keep doing that. In this case, Ram put out a special edition Red Wings variant of the 1500. The truck sold well, very well in fact, selling 3,000 units since it was put on sale in November of 2011. That’s three times the expected amount. The success has gotten the collective heads of Chrysler and Ram thinking, what other hockey teams and cities would this work out for?

Business Week spoke with Fred Diaz, the head of Ram, at the New York Auto Show. He had this to say about the idea of expanding the 1500 for different teams, “It’s actually an experiment that we did with Detroit and it work out so incredibly well, we’re looking at the possibility of doing other things with others sports,” he said. “You have to have a rabid fan base. Then you have to get the rights. We’ve got our feelers out to see what could work.”

The Red Wing 1500 is a $399 option that comes in red, white, or black and has the team’s logo on the headrests of the front-seat. Ram didn’t offer the option this year due to the season being cut short because of the labor dispute, but fully expects to offer it again when the next season begins.
