2013 Ram 1500 Named Detroit Free Press’ Truck of the Year!

That’s when I realize that the only reason why is because it’s in the news cycle so much. So many awards and so many positive reviews, it’s difficult to keep up with them all. This time, however, it’s because the Detroit Free Press has named the new truck as their “Truck of the Year.”

Mark Phelan opens his column with “Chrysler could have gotten away with a mere face-lift for the 2013 Ram 1500 pickup. Instead, it provided a glimpse of the pickup of the future, a truck that combines workhorse capability with fuel efficiency.” He continues on to praise the forward thinking innovation and execution of the new truck.

Phelan notes that the Ram 1500 has a “smooth, comfortable ride” as well as, “structure that’s a pickup’s backbone… a nearly all new frame of high strength steel to save weight inside.” The uConnect system also comes out with high marks, out doing the competition with simplicity and user-friendly controls.

2 Million Engines Served! Ram Trucks Reaches Milestone

Cummins Inc, the company that makes the engines for Ram trucks has reach one heck of a milestone.  They sure have earned the bragging rights on this one.

Ever since 1988 Cummins Inc has been in charge of making the engines for Ram trucks.  To mark a giant milestone in that partnership, they have produced the 2 millionth diesel engine for the company.

The engine that was made will not be seeing service in any trucks, however.  The 6.7-liter 6 cylinder turbo diesel will be put on show.  Marked by the Cummins Red rocker cover and breather, the 2 millionth engine will be put on tour across the US in a victory dance.

No resting on these laurels, though.  The engine maker is hard at work to make sure that 2013 is their best year yet.  The new models they have planned for the new year will offer the best-in-class torque combined with a 10 percent improvement in fuel-economy.   Other features include a new cooling system that gives an improved durability as well as performance.

Motor Trend Names the 2013 Ram 1500 Truck of the Year!

Another truck of the year award handed out, another win for Ram.

The award comes from Motor Trend this time. Their ‘Truck of the Year’ award is considered quite the big deal in the industry. Something that truck makers wear with honor and pride and tend to brag about if you ever ask, or don’t if they’re not so modest.

The 2013 Ram 1500 did not fail to impress the editors. They put it through all the extensive tests, from comfort and amenities, to fuel economy and ride evaluation. All the trucks, including the 1500, are compared in six criteria. Those are design advancement, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value, and performance of intended function.

The decision to crown the 1500 was unanimous, said Ed Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend. “We had a small but solid field of contenders… but in the end, the choice was clear:
Ram 1500 not only withstood our rigorous testing, it impressed at every step along the way.”

2013 Ram 1500: Urban Truck of the Year

We talk about the new 2013 Ram 1500 here a lot.  There’s a good reason for it though and that’s because the auto world won’t stop discussing it.  How am I not supposed to brag when the truck is labeled the 2013 “Urban Truck of the Year”?

Decisive Magazine is the one handing out the award.  It’s all part of their “2013 Urban Vehicles of the Year” list they put out.  The panel that hands out the crown is made up of some of the most respected automotive reviewers in the country.  They spend months evaluating what the automakers have to offer consumers.  Everything is considered, the style of the vehicle, how practical it is, and even its attainability.  Sounds like a terrible job to be stuck driving around tons of cars all day long, but someone has to do it.

Only one can be king, though, and when the dust of battle settled, it was the one and only 2013 Ram 1500 that stood tall against all those that challenged it.  “The Ram 1500 is as quiet as a luxury car and yet, is also extraordinarily capable as a truck,” says Randy Payton, founder of the Annual Urban Wheel Awards.  “Rugged and yet smooth enough for a night on the town, the Ram 1500 really raises the bar on what a pickup truck should be.”

Mopar Offers Hundreds of Parts and Accessories for 2013 Ram 1500

Truck fans already have plenty to be excited about with the 2013 Ram 1500. The buzz surrounding it has already been extremely positive and certainly looks to change the landscape when it is released. To help that building excitement along, Mopar will be giving customers the ability to leave their own personal touch on the Ram 1500.

To accomplish this goal, the parts maker will have more than 300 performance parts and accessories. There’s a variety of choices to make to change the make-up of the new truck. All available prices that range from $12 for a trailer hitch plug to $3,000 for a lift kit.

2013 Ram 1500: The Truck of Texas

Thanks to the truck drivers down in Texas, Ram is going to need a bigger trophy room. The brand took home top honors over the weekend at the 20th annual Texas Auto Writers Association Texas Truck Rodeo. In total, they brought 8 wins home with them, more than another auto maker combined.

That’s now the second year that Ram has won. The last time was in 2011 with the 2011 Ram Laramie Longhorn wining Truck of Texas. At this years event, the 2013 Ram 1500 is what impressed the voters the most. That’s not all, the new truck may have been the talk of the event, but the Ram brand was also the overall winner. The TAWA writers gave Truck Line of Texas to the Ram brand.

In all, the awards that Ram won were Truck of Teaxs, Truck Line of Texas, Full-size pickup truck, and Luxury pickup truck.

The TAWA President Michael Herzing praised the truck in his comments made about the big win, “Our members overwhelmingly chose the 2013 Ram 1500 as the Truck of Texas and the truck for Texans. The Ram 1500 is amazing. The new technologies in this truck are true game changers and raise the bar for the competition. You’ve got to love how touch, capable, comfortable, and fuel efficient this new truck is.”

For the past few years, they have headed up some of the most successful car commercials with award winning series such as “Imported from Detroit” and “Half-Time in America.” Ram is due for their time to shine with the upcoming 2013 Ram 1500. The company has already plastered the new truck on their building with a 15-story wrap. It’s time now for the next part with new TV spots.

Ram has a new national ad campaign that is showcasing all the great changes that Ram is putting into the new truck. Sam Elliot narrates the spot with his infamous gravely voice. The ad makes sure that all of the great new features, such as the inclusion of the 8.4 inch touch-screen and active-level air suspension.

In total 5 commercials are making the rounds to get the word out on the incredible new 2013 Ram 1500. Each 30-second spot brings the focus onto what makes the truck unique and showing what the customers are really looking for. The ads began running on October 13th and will be shown during cable prime-time and various sporting evens, especially outdoor lifestyle programming.

2013 Ram 1500 Proudly Displayed

Ram has been having a big week recently. They have already captured the the attention of truck lovers by showing off their new entries into the heavy duty truck category with the reveal of the 2013 Ram 2500 and 3500. It appears they are wanting to make sure to not have that enthusiasm go anywhere and have a new way of keeping people aware of their amazing upcoming product line.

In Auburn Hills, Michigan, the Chrysler Group headquarters is sporting a new look. Draped around the front of the building is a fifteen stories high, 140 feet wide, 210 feet tall wrap that is all about the 2013 Ram 1500. It’s a remarkable sight that plays very much into the slogan that Ram has of “Guts, Glory, Ram.” Chrysler is so proud of the new truck, they want anyone within sight to be reminded of it.

The 2013 Ram 1500 has a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine under the hood and has an all-new air suspension system. The truck also has the best-in-class 25 miles-per-gallon fuel economy. The new Ram will also have a stronger frame with more high-strength steel.

2013 Ram 2500, 3500 Heavy Duty & Chassis Cabs Revealed!

As promised, Ram Trucks rolled out the future of the heavy duty truck last week. Surrounded by a range of truck enthusiasts, from journalists to the truck-loving consumer, Fred Diaz, President and CEO of Ram Truck brand, pulled back the curtain and introduced the world to the new 2013 Ram Heavy Duty 2500 and 3500 pickups, and the Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 Chassis Cabs.

The 2013 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks come with the promise of the kind of power that truck owners are looking for in the brand. For the first time ever, the 3500 will be offered with a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 and a Cummins 6.7-liter High-Output diesel as standard.

Both the Heavy duty and Chassis Cab models will come with an electronic stability control to help reduce the loss of traction as standard on all Ram truck models. There will be plenty of colors to choose from, including fresh new ones and material upgrades for the truck’s interior that will be part of a new individualized themes Ram is going for. New Ram Heavy-Duty Trucks About to be Revealed!

Truck fans have been waiting for this news for some time now. After all the leaks and the teases, it’s finally time to take a look at what Ram is planning.

The big reveal hasn’t happened just yet, but the date and the place has been announced. Ram will be pulling back the curtain this upcoming Thursday, the 27th, at the Texas State Fair in Dallas, Texas. As the President and CEO of Ram, Fred Diaz, said it’s time to go big or go home.

The Ram website has a count-down until the big national unveiling of the 2013 Heavy Duty and Chassis Cab trucks. If you’re impatient and just can’t find yourself waiting even another minute to see what Ram’s future looks like, you can view the whole event live online by live streaming thanks to the Chrysler Electronic Communications Team. The whole thing goes down starting at 10 a.m. ET this Thursday, Sept 27.
