2013 Ram 1500 Named Detroit Free Press’ Truck of the Year!

That’s when I realize that the only reason why is because it’s in the news cycle so much. So many awards and so many positive reviews, it’s difficult to keep up with them all. This time, however, it’s because the Detroit Free Press has named the new truck as their “Truck of the Year.”

Mark Phelan opens his column with “Chrysler could have gotten away with a mere face-lift for the 2013 Ram 1500 pickup. Instead, it provided a glimpse of the pickup of the future, a truck that combines workhorse capability with fuel efficiency.” He continues on to praise the forward thinking innovation and execution of the new truck.

Phelan notes that the Ram 1500 has a “smooth, comfortable ride” as well as, “structure that’s a pickup’s backbone… a nearly all new frame of high strength steel to save weight inside.” The uConnect system also comes out with high marks, out doing the competition with simplicity and user-friendly controls.

Fred Diaz, President and CEO of Ram Truck Brand, was overjoyed to receive news of the 2013 Ram 1500 being named Truck of the Year. “We are honored to have an endorsement from the Detroit Free Press and Mark Phelan. New Ram Heavy-Duty Trucks About to be Revealed!

Truck fans have been waiting for this news for some time now. After all the leaks and the teases, it’s finally time to take a look at what Ram is planning.

The big reveal hasn’t happened just yet, but the date and the place has been announced. Ram will be pulling back the curtain this upcoming Thursday, the 27th, at the Texas State Fair in Dallas, Texas. As the President and CEO of Ram, Fred Diaz, said it’s time to go big or go home.

The Ram website has a count-down until the big national unveiling of the 2013 Heavy Duty and Chassis Cab trucks. If you’re impatient and just can’t find yourself waiting even another minute to see what Ram’s future looks like, you can view the whole event live online by live streaming thanks to the Chrysler Electronic Communications Team. The whole thing goes down starting at 10 a.m. ET this Thursday, Sept 27.

Definitely something for any heavy-duty truck fan to be excited about. The new 2013 Ram 1500 is already getting lots of love from the public and critics alike. Ram is doing everything they can do to make sure they are the name on everyone’s lips when it comes to trucks.

Ram Crowned Champion in Desert Duel!

Cue up the theme to The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly for this story. There was a duel in the desert. While a tad old-fashioned, the time for the showdown was even at sunrise, it seemed appropriate considering the contestants. On one end, there was the Mopar Ram Runner and on the other, there was the Ford SVT Raptor. What was this fight all about? It was all about which truck was better.

The place was the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area and both trucks were brought there by PickupTrucks.com for the purpose of crowning a champion on that day. They wanted to push both to the limit on a 4.73-mile loop on a desert course. When the dust settled, they were proud to announced that the Ram Runner was the winner!

“I was impressed with the Ram Runner’s extreme off-road capability,” said Chad Ragland, SCORE International Off-Road Racing Series Trophy Truck driver. “We jumped, slammed into mounds, cut through deep sand and it came out like a pro, rarely getting into the bumpstops or touching the skid plates.”

The Ram Runner finished a full 33 seconds faster than the Raptor.
