Ram Wants to Hear Your Stories of Glory

Ram is a brand that is all about excellence, going above and beyond for our customers every day. We work to make our trucks powerful, safer, and more comfortable, and we love to recognize others who go above and beyond. The RAMActs asked our customers to share their stories of random acts of manliness, and with our new Stories of Glory contest, we want to shine the light on unsung sports heroes. (And reward them with some great prizes too!)

“Stories of Glory” are any inspiring sports stories of yourself, your child, or someone you know. They can be the story of a high school coach who changed your life or your child’s first home run. To have your story considered, go to http://blog.ramtrucks.com/stories-of-glory/ and in 800 characters or less, tell your story. You can also include video or pictures if they are available, but they are not required. One winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Connecticut and will be interviewed on The Dan Patrick Show. Three runner-ups and thirty-one sweepstakes winners will receive swag bags from The Dan Patrick Show and Ram.

Do you have a Story of Glory to share? The deadline is August 21, so make sure you get in your entry soon! Also, check out the full Ram line-up online here, and keep up with the latest Ram news by liking Bayside on Facebook, following Bayside on Twitter, and subscribing to Bayside on YouTube.

High School Grad Stands Out with Ram

On graduation day, it is easy to blend into the masses of robed figures and mortarboards, but a high school grad in Virginia found a way to stand out and proclaim his love for Ram trucks.

Robby Lyons has been a fan of Ram trucks for years. His family owns a 2004 Ram 2500 HD, and he drives a 1989 Power Ram W100 Series. When asked about his love of Rams, he says, “I sit in [my] truck and I get chills. The power and durability combined with handling – it just blows me away.” Besides owning a Ram truck, he also ran his own junior dragster up until 2009, and he plans to continue drag racing with his father and uncle, serving as the team’s mechanic.

It is only appropriate then that Robby bolted a Ram head hood ornament to his graduation cap. While most people found the hood ornament amusing, some teachers raised objections to the hat. Robby was eventually given approval to wear his souped-up mortarboard to the ceremony, and since then, he has received local and national news coverage including a feature on the RamZone blog.

Win at the Pump with Ram!

With gas prices up and down daily, drivers are dreading their trips to the gas station this summer. New car buyers are looking for more fuel-efficient cars, and surveys show that fuel economy is the most important factor to American car shoppers.

Ram wants to ease that worry at the gas pump by giving away free gallons of gas all summer. One lucky winner will receive 500 gallons of gas, and one hundred weekly winners will receive 32 gallons.

The contest kicked off April 5 and goes through September 1, 2012, so there is still plenty of time to enter and win. You can fill out the contest entry form here, and make sure to only enter once. Multiple entries or entries under the same e-mail address will be disqualified.

Imagine how far 500 gallons of gas could take you this summer. Those trips to the pool, the park, and the grocery store add up quickly, and instead of paying for pricy airline tickets, you could take the family on a road trip for vacation. No matter how you would use it, Ram’s Gallon Guarantee contest should not be missed.

Ram Honors Military Hero at ACM Awards

Next Monday is Memorial Day, a day that Ram takes very seriously, and this year Ram teamed up with one of country music’s biggest stars to pay tribute to America’s heroes.

Ram asked for friends and family to nominate a military service-member for the National Ram Military Hero Contest. The winning service-member and the person who nominated them would win a trip to Las Vegas for the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards and would get to meet country music star Craig Morgan.

The 2012 honoree was Army Pfc. Brandon Sapp of the 1st Calvary Division from Fort Wood Texas, who was killed by a homemade bomb. For his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Good Conduct Medal. His father John accepted the National Ram Military Hero award on his behalf last month as part of the ACM Awards weekend events.

Both Craig Morgan and Ram have a long history of supporting the troops. Morgan was active duty in the Army’s 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions for ten years and served an additional nine years in the Reserves. He has also performed in nine USO tours and won the 2006 USO Merit Award. In a recent interview, he praised Ram’s strong commitment to the military, saying, “I think it’s so wonderful that a company like Ram Trucks who is such a great brand and so recognizable; for them to get behind something, that to me is more important than anything, and that’s to get behind the men and women that serve in our Armed Forces.”

At Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we want to encourage our readers to honor our military service-members all throughout the year as well as during Memorial Day weekend. Ram Trucks Sponsor Kentucky Derby

As all eyes were on the Kentucky Derby this past weekend, all eyes were also on Ram trucks as well.

For the past 3 years, Ram has been the official truck of the Kentucky Derby, one of the most famous sporting events in the world. The Ram brand was everywhere at Churchill Downs from posters to vehicle displays and uniforms. Derby winner I’ll Have Another might have even gotten a little jealous at how much coverage Ram received.

At first glance, Ram seems out of place next to the fancy dresses, exotic hats, and mint julep-sipping crowd, but on closer look, the partnership makes perfect sense. The Kentucky Derby might be a high-class affair, but the road to the Kentucky Derby is rough. This sentiment is echoed in their campaign for the Kentucky Derby which was “Hard-Earned, Not Hard-Won.” Every day, horse owners need a reliable truck and trailer, and they can appreciate Ram’s customizable towing features and tools that help horse owners find the best truck to fit their needs. There is a saying that behind every great man, there is a better woman. Well, one of the best kept secrets of the Kentucky Derby is that behind every race horse, there is an incredible trainer and a great truck.

Ram has a truck for every towing and driving need, and you can browse Bayside’s inventory of new and used Ram trucks online here. Man Up with Ram’s RAMActs

Ram wants you to man up and share your RAMActs.

Ram kicked off the month of May by daring its nearly 27,000 Twitter followers to get their blood flowing and show what their made of with Random Acts of Manliness.

What is a RAMAct? A RAMAct is doing something extraordinary. Get a tattoo, climb a mountain, face your fears, and man-up, and post a picture or video to Twitter with the hashtag #RAMActs.

If Ram’s female fans feel left out by the campaign, they don’t need to fear. RAMActs aren’t only for the boys and men. Last night, Ram tweeted, “Random Acts of Manliness aren’t just for men! Ladies can join in the movement too,” so Ram ladies can step up to the plate and brag about their own RAMActs.

2012: Year of the Dragon or Year of the Ram?

The 2013 Ram 1500 won’t be available until later this year, but already the popular truck is making headlines with its advanced technology and driver conveniences.

At the 2012 New York International Auto Show, Ram was pushing the tagline “Guts and Glory” for the 2013 Ram 1500, an apt description if I ever heard one. The new model improves the truck in all the ways that drivers care about including better gas mileage, better aerodynamics, a new air suspension system, and updated interiors.

Here are some of the ways the Ram 1500 has been improved.

  • 42 percent boost in horsepower and 13 percent boost in torque
  • Gas mileage has improved 20 percent.
  • High-strength steel is used in the frame of the truck
  • Ram’s revolutionary rotary shifter allows drivers to shift from park to drive with the turn of a knob.
  • The new air suspension system gives drivers the choice between 2 off-road heights, an aerodynamic setting, and a park “kneeling” setting so that shorter drivers have an easier time getting in and out of the car.

To sum up, the new Ram 1500 is lighter, stronger, and more powerful. It made a strong impression at the New York Auto Show, and coming out of 2011 with Ram sales up 22.6 percent, this could be a really amazing year for Ram.

New York Auto Show: 2013 Ram 1500 Brings “Guts and Glory”

At the New York International Auto Show, the 2013 Ram 1500 promised to bring “the guts and the glory,” and they delivered on both fronts with a redesigned 1500 that still has that undeniable Ram signature look.

At the presentation, Ram focused on the notion of going back to the core of the car and beefing up the truck’s “guts” to make a stronger vehicle from the inside-out. What they didn’t mention in the presentation but have advertised elsewhere was that their inside-out approach has made the 1500 more fuel efficient. Supposedly the 2013 Ram 1500 has the best mileage of any full-size pickup truck with a V-6 or V-8 engine.

Another great feature that did not get shown off at the presentation was the truck’s new shifting system. Instead of using a traditional gear shift with automatic transmission trucks, the 2013 Ram 1500 has a shifter knob. The new shifter knob lets people shift from park to reverse, neutral, or drive with the turn of a knob located to the right of the starter. Wired was so impressed with the shifter knob that they gave it a spot on their list Top Ten Biggest Innovations of the New York Auto Show.

While it might seem strange that the higher fuel efficiency and new shifter knob didn’t get featured in the presentation, I think it shows how great the new 2013 Ram 1500 really is. There was so much they wanted to show off about the vehicle that they couldn’t fit it all into a short presentation. The 2013 Ram 1500 won’t go on sale until September, but I predict that Ram 1500 fans will love the merging of new technology with classic style.

Ram Shows “The More You Know, The More You Tow”

For years, Ram has been known for its excellence in towing trucks. With Ram’s wide selection of trucks, however, it can be tough for truck shoppers to figure out which vehicle is best for their needs.

In order to better educate consumers, Ram is offering a new service on their website called “The More You Know, The More You Tow.” Shoppers can find out the max payload, max tow, price, and other specs on each car. They can sort models by regular, quad, or crew as well as choose the box length, type of transmission, and 4X4 or 2X2 wheel drive. Once they narrow it down, they can sort the results by maximum towing, maximum payload, highest price, or lowest price.

All of these features are great, but by far, my favorite feature of their “The More You Tow” tool is their Towing Basics section. They have included definitions for common towing terminology that many people looking at their first towing truck might not know. They also included how much trailers, boats, cars, RVs, construction equipment, building materials and upfits normally weigh, so let’s say that a shopper knows that they need a truck for their boat trailer but don’t know which truck can handle it. By using the Towing Basics with the truck search tool, they can find out which trucks can handle their trailer.

Ram 2500 & 3500

Just one look at the powerhouse that is the Ram Heavy Duty Truck shows why it’s considered a legend in its class. It’s a clear sign in its design that it’s all about strength in form and features. It all begins with the big rig styling. With both the Ram 2500 and 3500, these trucks look to do more than impress you with numbers on a sheet of paper telling how much they can carry. The most obvious aspect of the exterior is the signature Ram grille which comes in either chrome or the body color. The steel and detailed hood with louvers on each side is used to hold in the possible engines. It uses a cowl screen that allows the airflow to have a smoother transition when traveling from the hood to the windshield. For added uniqueness to the Heavy Duty Truck, you can purchase a Mopar aluminum running boards to not only give additional style but also give easier entry and exit from the cab.

The engine contained within the Ram 2500 is the 5.7 liter HEMI Magnum that has 6 speed automatic transmission and 383 horsepower at 5600 RPM. For the Ram 3500, you have the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel, considered by many to be a staple for its unrivaled power and the ability to tackle the toughest of jobs. It has 350 horsepower with 800 pounds of torque showing how it earned this status. For the 2012 models of the Heavy Duty Trucks, in an effort to lower costs and give hassle free maintenance, Ram includes a class-exclusive NOX Absorber Catalyst. What this system does is regulate diesel emissions in line with EPA standards. You won’t need to worry at all about having to monitor your diesel exhaust fluid because of this.

If you’re worried all this was efficiency came at a sacrifice of comfort, don’t worry at all. The Ram 2500 and 3500 were made to be driven. The Laramie Longhorn Edition has something very unique in the form of laser-etch stitching on the leather. For the person who takes the Ram Heavy Duty to the job, the seat fabric is designed to be stain, odor, and static resistant to make sure that you have a quick and easy cleanup when the day is done. An added bonus that its effect doesn’t diminish with time. Other bonus features are a heat steering wheel, dual zone temperature controls, and soft-touch instrument panels. It’s all done with exemplary craftsmanship and care.

Ram wants to make sure that you’re protected driving to work or for the family by having 25 different safety and security features. Both the 2500 and the 3500 come standard with a set of advance multistage airbags, from the driver and front passenger to the side curtain ones. In addition to that, the safety cage of the trucks are built to endure punishment. This is because they have dynamic front crumple zones and beams built into the doors for side impacts. All this helps to deflect and absorb forces of an impact should an accident occur.

Another highlight of purchasing a Ram 2500 or 3500 for yourself is the Ram has ensured that these trucks are built to last. Durability is a word that means something to the design team, one that they made sure to test rigorously. That means that whatever your Ram Truck is meant to do, be it your choice of work vehicle or just getting the family to the Adirondacks, it’s going to spend more time on the road than in the shop. In order to make that claim, the testers at Ram have put the trucks through their paces in tests that range from 120 degrees for a desert and -20 for arctic climates. The models also include corrosion-resistant hydro formed frames. The Ram 2500 or 3500 will be with you for a long time.
