Ram Sponsors Kentucky Derby for Fourth Consecutive Year

Ram-Truck-Official-Truck-Kentucky-DerbyThis weekend is the Kentucky Derby, and as people are placing their bets and predicting the winner, Ram is getting ready for its fourth consecutive year as the Derby’s official sponsor.

In a post on RamZone, Ram Trucks expressed their gratitude for the honor of sponsoring the Kentucky Derby, stating, “We hope that in time our presence at the Derby will become customary as seersucker suits and the garland of roses.”

For years, Ram’s line-up has catered to a variety of needs from light-duty truck for trailers and ATVs to heavy-duty trucks built for towing horse trailers. They understand the needs of truck drivers and more specifically of horse trainers and owners. Ram’s sponsorship of the Kentucky Derby is the perfect match between product and event, a partnership that will hopefully continue for years to come.

The Kentucky Derby will air live on NBC from 4 PM to 7 PM eastern time.

Ram Donates Trucks, $100,000 to Hurricane Sandy Relief

As the east coast recovers after Hurricane Sandy, Ram Trucks are stepping up and helping in relief efforts.

So far, the popular truck brand has pledged their support for those affected by the storm, and they have donated $100,000 and 20 Ram 1500 trucks to the American Red Cross. Neal Litvack, Chief Development Officer at the American Red Cross, praised Ram for their support, saying, “Through the generosity of its partners such as Ram and Chrysler Group, the American Red Cross is responding with shelter, food, and emotional support, helping families and communities with their most critical needs now, and as they begin to move towards recovery.”

One of the biggest problems facing relief workers is that the areas that need help the most are still not easily accessible, and besides that, these residents need water, food, blankets, medicine, and other necessary supplies. They need a way to transport these supplies efficiently, and that’s why Ram trucks are so important to recovery efforts.

We would like to encourage our readers to donate to the American Red Cross and volunteer with relief efforts if they are physically able. Our friends, family, and neighbors in New York and New Jersey need us right now, and we are so glad to see Ram taking action in the aftermath of this terrible storm.

New Ram Truck Possibly Spotted on the Road

The Dodge Dart’s rebirth is currently the talk of the auto world in concern of new vehicles that are coming out. The public attention is focused on seeing how well the car comes out and with the onslaught of advertisement towards its impending release, people aren’t really thinking about what’s next. Some keen eyes may have just spied what’s coming down the road after the Dart.

Allpar.com has a news story about a possible sighting for the new truck that Ram is planning. Someone has spotted and posted pictures of what may be the Ram 4500 out on a test drive on public roads. Ram has stated that they are planning to deal with the Ford and GM heavy-duty pickups that are coming out. Ram has already stated they are hoping to get a new truck out there, but it won’t be until a 2017/2018 time frame.

Allpar has a run down of the rumors about what may be features on the new Ram heavy-duty truck. One such feature will be an optional air suspension system. The system being quoted by an unnamed source as being “better than the on in the Grand Cherokee.” Another is something called the Long Hauler concept which will allow for higher capacity with a smoother ride.

Obviously nothing is for certain as of yet and this is all just assumptions, but it still an indicator of what may be coming soon. Definitely something for truck fans to start getting excited about.

Ram Considering the Future of Mid-Sized Trucks?

The sales numbers are out for the month of June and they have a very interesting story to tell. It’s a continuing story, showing that the sales increase trend of late is still going strong. It also has a lot to say about the current state of affairs in the auto industry. Specifically about the state of trucks.

Automobilemag.com talks about how the years have not been kind to fans of mid-sized pickup trucks, lamenting the demise of the Dodge Dakota. The sales were up just over 15 percent in 2011. While it’s a very solid offering from the vehicle group, it wasn’t on the same level as full sized pickups. To compare, the numbers of the top six mid-sized trucks sold a combined total of 286,009 units. In the same amount of time, the Ford F-Series sold 886,058 units.

That hasn’t stopped Chrysler from considering a comeback for a mid-size truck. Joe Veltri, Chrysler’s VP, told Detriot News that market research indicates young men coming into the market are looking for pick-up truck conveniences without having to spent big bucks on the purchasing price and with the gas bills. There’s also desire from the baby boomers wanting to downsize their trucks as they get older.

It’s all still in the rumor stage with no confirmation on anything. The article indicates the possibility that the new truck would most definitely be in the Ram brand and may even have a unibody, not a body-on-frame architecture. At this point, anything is possible.

Details Begin to Emerge on the 2013 Ram 1500

Ram has been really prepping up the 2013 Ram 1500 to come out the gate strong. Not one to be outdone by the upcoming Dodge Dart, Ram wants to steal some spotlight. Pickuptrucks.com has a more detailed breakdown of just how Ram is making sure that the truck enthusiasts of the world will be looking their way when the new 1500 hits the streets.

The website quotes an interview with Bob Hegbloom, the director of Ram brand, in which he lists off the improvements being implemented into the new design. Many of these new tech upgrades are being made to improve things such as the pickup’s fuel economy in the way of a new Pentastar V-6 engine with an eight speed transmission. There’s also an extensive use of lightweight materials for this goal. It’s still going to be several months before Ram puts out the stats on the fuel economy to see if they can pull it off.

The new 1500 is expected to hit the dealerships this fall. No pricing has been announced as of yet but it hasn’t left truck drivers uninterested in speculating. The move to better efficiency is definitely a step in the right direction. The market is there for a truck, even the heavy duty models, with a lower initial investment and maintenance costs.
