Motor Trend Names the 2013 Ram 1500 Truck of the Year!

Another truck of the year award handed out, another win for Ram.

The award comes from Motor Trend this time. Their ‘Truck of the Year’ award is considered quite the big deal in the industry. Something that truck makers wear with honor and pride and tend to brag about if you ever ask, or don’t if they’re not so modest.

The 2013 Ram 1500 did not fail to impress the editors. They put it through all the extensive tests, from comfort and amenities, to fuel economy and ride evaluation. All the trucks, including the 1500, are compared in six criteria. Those are design advancement, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value, and performance of intended function.

The decision to crown the 1500 was unanimous, said Ed Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend. “We had a small but solid field of contenders… but in the end, the choice was clear:
Ram 1500 not only withstood our rigorous testing, it impressed at every step along the way.”

Details Begin to Emerge on the 2013 Ram 1500

Ram has been really prepping up the 2013 Ram 1500 to come out the gate strong. Not one to be outdone by the upcoming Dodge Dart, Ram wants to steal some spotlight. Pickuptrucks.com has a more detailed breakdown of just how Ram is making sure that the truck enthusiasts of the world will be looking their way when the new 1500 hits the streets.

The website quotes an interview with Bob Hegbloom, the director of Ram brand, in which he lists off the improvements being implemented into the new design. Many of these new tech upgrades are being made to improve things such as the pickup’s fuel economy in the way of a new Pentastar V-6 engine with an eight speed transmission. There’s also an extensive use of lightweight materials for this goal. It’s still going to be several months before Ram puts out the stats on the fuel economy to see if they can pull it off.

The new 1500 is expected to hit the dealerships this fall. No pricing has been announced as of yet but it hasn’t left truck drivers uninterested in speculating. The move to better efficiency is definitely a step in the right direction. The market is there for a truck, even the heavy duty models, with a lower initial investment and maintenance costs.

Win at the Pump with Ram!

With gas prices up and down daily, drivers are dreading their trips to the gas station this summer. New car buyers are looking for more fuel-efficient cars, and surveys show that fuel economy is the most important factor to American car shoppers.

Ram wants to ease that worry at the gas pump by giving away free gallons of gas all summer. One lucky winner will receive 500 gallons of gas, and one hundred weekly winners will receive 32 gallons.

The contest kicked off April 5 and goes through September 1, 2012, so there is still plenty of time to enter and win. You can fill out the contest entry form here, and make sure to only enter once. Multiple entries or entries under the same e-mail address will be disqualified.

Imagine how far 500 gallons of gas could take you this summer. Those trips to the pool, the park, and the grocery store add up quickly, and instead of paying for pricy airline tickets, you could take the family on a road trip for vacation.
