Kelly Blue Book has put out their list of the ’15 Best Family Cars 2015’ and one of their choices is quite surprising. They put the 2015 Ram 1500 on the list.

A Ram truck isn’t what many people think about when they think of family cars. Trucks come to mind when you think about needing to haul heavy-duty equipment. But even KBB realizes that the 1500 can still come in handy for families.

They qualify the new 1500 as “the most civilized truck on the market today.” They continue on the reason the truck was chosen for this list is that families may not just be looking for a larger car to hold their kids but may need something more versatile. A truck like the 1500 has a lot of option available to drivers.

The other major reason why KBB chose the new 1500 is because it is made for performance and endurance, but that doesn’t mean it is uncomfortable. “Thanks to a coil-spring rear suspension and available air suspension, a family can enjoy the comfort of a midsize sedan while on a road trip.”

It’s refreshing to see a challenge to the notion of what a family car is. The stereotype is the large minivan, packed with kids. The 1500 certainly is outside the box thinking, but when you really give it a thought, it just makes too much sense. “The Ram is a truck that’s ideal for the great American road trip, that quintessential even that every family really should do. What better way to see America than in comfort, with all of your adventure gear in tow?”
